Company Overview

Seety is a UK based company specialized in digital images with a focus on street pictures for which has developed a proprietary solution. This system allows us to take pictures in an efficient, simple and effective way shooting automatically with moving cars and post processing them to cross reference images with geospatial coordinates. Picture after picture we built a database of streets of central London and of most cities in Italy already and the list keeps growing. Our mission is to bring to the users the city images on their desktop, hence the name of the company: Seety which is shorthand for See City.

The Team

Seety is made of people with a passion in technology, photography and digital images; combining everything together you get the expertise necessary to develop the system which let us take pictures in a cost effective way yet without sacrificing quality. Having taken pictures of more than 10000 km of streets plus several retail parks, warehouses and indoor locations Seety can now rely on a team of experienced operators for both taking and post processing the images. Their continuous feedbacks and interaction with the technology team led to the development of solutions which are now automating most of the tasks making the whole process quick, reliable and cost effective.

Our Business

Seety ltd licenses its database of images to allow third party companies to take advantage of the additional level of information carried by street pictures. Besides constantly increasing and keeping up to date the database, we also work on bespoke projects to meet the demand of our clients meaning that we take pictures of areas not yet covered should anyone need them. The type of service provided largely depends on the final use of the pictures. We can shoot in almost any setting, from narrow cobbled streets to retail parks (indoor and outdoor), from pedestrian areas to congested streets, adjusting the picture quality depending on the specific requirements. In addition, as we are concerned about privacy we always make sure that nothing potentially leading to the identification of someone or something, such as faces or number plates, is recognizable from the pictures.

The technology

By simply using consumer electronics Seety has developed a proprietary technology to take pictures and locate them in a map in a fully automated way so that a single operator can do all the work by simply driving a car. The pictures are then post processed (that.s where we take care of issues such as the privacy and the quality of the photos) and displayed in conjunction with a map. The quality of the pictures can meet any standard required as we always upgrade our set of cameras to the latest ones trying to achieve the maximum image resolution. We have specific software to shoot and adjust the quality of the pictures and to overlay them in a graph representing the geographical map. The system does not depend on any particular map so the images can be used in conjunction with any of the map providers such as Microsoft®, Google®, Multimap®, etc. The images are shown in a simple player developed using the Flash® technology which makes it viewable in any web browser.
